What is Unplugged?
Unplugged is a screen-free, outdoor education curriculum that mixes in-person instruction and self-guided learning into a unique camp experience.
Who can participate?
Kindergarten-8th grade students from any school, homeschool, or co-op may register to participate for Unplugged classes. Depending on the group size, students may be organized into smaller cohorts based on grade (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th).
When are lessons?
Lessons are taught every Thursday from 10:00-11:30am. Arrive in time to check-in before class begins.
How do I register?
Registration for 2021 Spring Unplugged is open! A majority of students register for every Thursday in a month, however, you may also register for one or two select classes during each monthly offering. Discounts are given for entire month registrations. Sibling discounts are available as well.
Unplugged lessons are always taught outside. The aim of this course is to allow children an opportunity to connect with and learn about nature. Being in nature is sometimes windy, cold, or rainy- please arrive prepared for any weather you may encounter! Wear layers and closed-toed shoes. Bring a rain jacket, umbrella, and a change of clothes if needed. In the event of inclement weather, parents will be informed in advance of any class cancelations. Students are not required to wear a mask due to the fact that all lessons are taught outdoors. Masks are required inside any buildings (restrooms, water, etc.). Tekoa Foothills will continue to follow all protocols issued by the Cleveland and Henderson County Health Department in accordance to the Interim Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Guidance for Day Camp or Program Settings Serving Children and Teens, as directed by the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
