Casar, North Carolina, is a destination. If you are traveling from Belwood to Polkville, you’ll pass right through. Otherwise, it isn’t one of the towns that’s ‘on the way’. In spite of the isolation, Casar and Camp Tekoa Foothills are located only one hour from the Charlotte International Airport! Less than 45 minutes to Hickory, 30 to Morganton or Shelby, and a beautiful hour and a half from Asheville. With this background in mind, I’m privileged to tell you the story of our fall adventure: Pumpkin Chunkin’!
Oh, Halloween! The exciting time of year where you can dress up in costumes and make your belly hurt from eating too much candy. Oh, yes that joyous time of year!
As a child, Halloween was more than just a one day event. There were classroom celebrations, trunk or treats, friend’s parties, and neighborhood jackpots that left our heads spinning in a sugary daze. Even as an adult, it’s always fun to have an excuse to dress up and get free food! Everything in 2020 looked a bit peculiar, and Halloween was no different.
Scavenger hunts are such a fun, unique way to explore something familiar in a whole new light. Maybe you walk through a local park every day, and while you enjoy the view and your surroundings, you may have never taken note of the particular types of trees and plants accompanying your stroll. Inviting you to search in a guided manner, scavenger hunts are fun for all ages!
A holiday for celebrating the labors of all your hard work? Can’t we have more than just one day?? Labor Day is an exciting event that allows all of us a breath of fresh air, time to relax, and fun times with our friends and family. Everyone celebrates this holiday differently, and this was a means to show our community how Tekoa Foothills celebrates Labor Day!
